3/3 Little red riding hood Discussion
Three different versions of this story.
- 1.They have different ending, and thus they teach different moral. One teaches us not to talk to strangers easily; and the other tells us not to commit crimes, otherwise, what goes around comes back around.
- 2.The things the little red riding hood brought to her grandmother were not the same. It might indicate the differences between two authors and the culture of different eras.
Professor Lee also showed us the original version of the little red riding hood, which is the most scaring version I’ve ever seen. :/ Flesh, blood, and some sexual implications make this story absolutely inappropriate for children to read.
My own version of Little Red Riding Hood:
In 2016, there lives a little lovely girl called Lazy Red Riding Hood. (Let’s call her Doris in the following story.) Her mother told her that her dear grandmom was sick and the girl’s visit would be the best remedy for her grandmother. Doris tells her mother that she will find another day to visit her. Little does she know how sick her grandmother is. Doris is always busy with her cellphone, and it takes 15 minutes on foot to arrive at her grandmother’s house. Therefore, she is so lazy that she doesn’t want to go out. Doris believes her grandmother will be fine as long as she sees Doris’s face. Another day, it si so hot that she still doesn’t want to go out. She comes up with an idea: she can use facetime on her iPhone to say hello to her grandmother. However, her grandmother doesn't answer her call. She keeps texting her grandmother and gets no response. She finally feels something is so wrong, so she rushes to her grandmother’s house. On the road to grandmother’s house, she finds how silly she is; what if she cannot see her grandmother again just because of her laziness and silly cell phone. Upon arriving at the front gate of her grandmother’s house, she begins to knock so hard on the door. There comes out a wolf with the doctor suit. She cries out and asks Dr. wolf what happened to her dear grandmother. Dr. wolf says, she still murmured your name continuously until ………….she fells asleep. Doris is ecstatic to know her grandmother is just sleeping and everything is still alright.
